Under the Local Government Finance Act of 1992 (ss 39,41,51 and 52) and the Council Tax (Administration and Enforcement Regulations of 1992 (No. 613 art 4(1)) the parish council has the power to raise money from those resident within its parish to meet all of its expenses.
This is done by levying a parish rate in the form of a 'precept' and is collected by St. Edmundsbury Parish Council as the billing authority.
The Parish Council may also occasionally receive grants and income from other sources and use these funds for improvements within the local community.
The parish council has a duty to publish information to comply with the new Transparency Code, effective 1 April 2015.
Every item of expenditure incurred by the Parish Council is listed within the minutes of the parish council's meetings. An annual summary detailing all expenditure exceeding £100 can be found in the files to the left of the page for both 2016 and 2015.
